All our doctors are fellowship trained in the diagnosis and care of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). We have decades of combined experience to bring to your care.

Advanced diagnostics

Diagnosing MS is complex and we have all the necessary tools close at hand. From advanced neuroimaging from our colleagues in Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) to onsite ophthalmologic and other tools, we leverage cutting edge technology to get you the right answers.

Clinical trials

We are part of numerous multi-center and investigator-initiated clinical trials investigating the latest MS treatments. This allows patients to access the most cutting edge trials.

Specialized collaborations

Not everyone referred to our center has MS. We have close collaborations with all manner of sub-specialists within neurology and around the WU Medical Center. If we aren’t the right team for you, we will find you a care home.

John L. Trotter, MD

1943 – 2001

Our center at Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Hospital was established by John L. Trotter, MD, one of the first neuroimmunologists in the world, having trained in both neurology and immunology. Trotter was renown for his dedication to his patients and research on MS to improve its treatment. Upon his untimely death in 2001, the center was renamed in his honor.
