Center for Neuroimmunology and Neuroinfectious Diseases

The Center for Neuroimmunology and Neuroinfectious Diseases (CNND) hosted its inaugural symposium on September 18, 2013 at the Eric P. Newman Center. This symposium introduced the new center to the St. Louis research community.

Complex interactions between the immune system and metabolism

A second area of interest of our lab is the study of the complex interplay between the immune system and metabolism.

Program project grant

“Biomarkers and pathogenesis of MS: From Mouse to Human”
The Neuroimmunology group was awarded a five year Program Project award by the NINDS/ NIH (2008-2013). The overall goal is to develop and validate novel cutting edge imaging techniques to determine underlying pathology of CNS in vivo.

Role of innate immune cells

Several lines of evidence suggest that the innate immune system plays a critical role in the induction and regulation of adaptive autoimmune responses in MS, as well as in myelin and axonal damage within the CNS.
